Free Crochet Coaster Pattern – Round Lace Design for Beginners

I’m sharing the free written pattern for my round crochet coaster — the one from my latest YouTube tutorial. Skill level: Beginner

Finished size: ~10 cm / 4 in

Time: 30–45 minutes

– DK or worsted weight cotton yarn

– 3–3.5 mm crochet hook

– Scissors

– Yarn needle

– Stitch marker (optional)

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

hdc – half double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

st(s) – stitch(es)

beg – beginning

sp – space / chain space

rep – repeat

🧶 Free Tulip Headband Pattern

Pattern — worked in 5 rounds

Rnd 1

– Ch 6. Join with a sl st into the first ch to form a ring.


Rnd 2

– Ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 23 dc into the ring — 24 dc total.

– Join with sl st to the top of the beg ch-3.


Rnd 3

– Ch 4 (counts as first dc + ch 1), skip 2 sts, sc in the top of the next dc.

* Ch 3, skip 2 sts, sc in the top of the next dc.

– Rep from * 6 more times (8 ch-3 sps formed)

– To close the last sp, ch 3, then sl st into the beg ch-4 to complete the final loop.


Rnd 4

– Ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 1 more dc into the same sp, ch 2, work 2 dc into the same sp (first shell made), ch 1.

* Work [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] into the next ch-3 sp, ch 1.

– Rep from * around (8 shells total)

– Join with sl st to the top of the beg ch-3.


Rnd 5

– Ch 1 (counts as first sc).

* nWork 8 dc into the ch-2 sp of the next shell, sc into the ch-1 sp.

– Rep from * around, ending with 8 dc into the last shell’s ch-2 sp. Join with sl st to the beg ch-1.

– Fasten off and weave in ends.


Tip: Use a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round to keep your joins tidy. Block the finished coaster flat and lightly dampen it to open up the lace pattern.
